Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are being considered as a viable nuclear option to positively contribute to mitigating the climate change. SMRs are newer generation reactors designed to generate electric power typically ranges from 10 MW and up to 300 MW. SMRs components and systems can be shop fabricated and then transported as modules to the sites for installation as demand arises. Most of the SMR designs adopt advanced or even inherent safety features and are deployable either as a single or multi-module plant.

SMRs are under development for different types of reactor lines: water cooled reactors, high temperature gas cooled reactors, liquid metal, sodium and gas-cooled reactors with fast neutron spectrum, molten salt reactors, and microreactors. The key driving forces of SMR development are fulfilling the need for flexible power generation for a wider range of users and applications, replacing ageing fossil-fired units, enhancing safety performance, and offering better economic affordability.

Since number of SMRs deployed worldwide will be greater in number and expected to increase, reactors design needs to be simplified and user friendly. Also, Safety and Shutdown systems needs to be robust and failsafe. RCIS Simplified 40 MW Reactor Design with innovative enhanced Safety Systems will provide safe and reliable power generation solutions. Our Failsafe design function will ensure the safety of employee, public and environment in any abnormal event. Our SMR will have the flexibility to easily transport to centralized remote location facility for refueling and maintenance purpose. This facility to be located at remote location approved by Regulators and applicable municipality. RCIS Design will facilitate easy to remove spent fuel and loading of new fuel.

RCIS is committed to select the fuel type that will meet regulatory requirements and international commitment to Nuclear safety. RCIS Fuel Type selection is expected to minimize generation of highlevel waste. Our reactor design to have higher fuel burn-up rates, reducing the amount of waste produced. RCIS is determined to perform further research and development activities to determine impact and performance of our SMR if placed underground, above ground and underwater. RCIS designed SMR will produce power at lower cost per Megawatt. We are committed to ensure that Canadian and International Operating experience are incorporated in our design.
